While India remains a large importer, imports are increasingly concentrated in critical technologies like aero-engines, propulsion, and advanced electronics where domestic capability is still developing.
As global defence spending rises, the next phase of India’s defence story will depend on deeper value addition in high-technology domains, particularly defence electronics. To explore that, we recently visited our portfolio company Vinyas Innovative Technologies in Mysuru. In a conversation between Angad Kapur, Principal at Singularity, and Sumukh N., Director at Vinyas, what emerged was not just a factory tour but a window into how India’s defence electronics capability is maturing.
